The Journey Back to Positivity Begins Within
According to the Brahma Kumaris, goodness, peace and positivity are the soul’s original qualities, and true spiritual growth lies not in creating these values but in consistently expressing them through our thoughts, words and actions in everyday life.
A recent message from the Brahma Kumaris focuses on the importance of aligning thoughts with actions, reminding readers that goodness, peace and positivity are the soul’s original qualities. It is easy to hold noble ideals in the mind, but the real challenge lies in living them consistently in everyday life.
A familiar saying reminds us, “Practice what you preach.” Most of us have personal benchmarks that we aspire to live by. We wish to remain happy in every situation, think positively, speak kindly, and maintain good wishes for everyone we meet. Yet, when life presents unexpected challenges, these ideals are often tested.
For instance, we may begin the day determined to remain cheerful regardless of circumstances. However, the moment a difficult situation arises, worry can quickly replace peace, and that anxiety naturally radiates to those around us. Likewise, we may genuinely resolve to hold only good wishes for others, but when faced with someone’s negative behaviour, our thoughts may turn critical and our words may become harsh, weakening relationships and disturbing our own peace of mind.
Why does this happen? Does it mean we are not good people at heart?
According to spiritual wisdom, the answer is no. Every soul is originally pure, peaceful, loving and good. These qualities are our original nature. The challenge is not in creating goodness but in returning to it. While many sincerely wish to become better human beings, only those who consistently practise spiritual awareness and self-transformation are able to express these original qualities in every situation.
Life presents countless opportunities to test our values. Sometimes we succeed, and at other times we fall short of our own expectations. Rather than becoming discouraged, each experience can become a reminder to reconnect with our original nature and strengthen our determination to live according to the values we cherish.
Returning to our original state of goodness is not an overnight achievement. It is a gradual journey of self-awareness, self-discipline and spiritual practice. As we become more conscious of our true identity, our thoughts, words and actions begin to align naturally, allowing us to spread positivity not only within ourselves but also to everyone we encounter.
