Indian-American Entrepreneur Dr. Tausif Malik Launches Pune Ideas Festival, India’s First Dedicated Ideas Festival
“Pune Ideas Festival is designed to bring together bold thinkers and visionary leaders who are shaping the future. Our goal is to create a platform where ideas become action, collaborations become opportunities, and innovation creates impact.” — Dr. Tausif Malik
Indian-American entrepreneur and global media professional Dr. Tausif Malik has announced the launch of the Pune Ideas Festival (PIF), describing it as India’s first dedicated ideas festival and outlining an ambitious vision to position Pune among the world’s leading centers for innovation, entrepreneurship, education, technology, healthcare, sustainability, and public policy.
The inaugural festival is scheduled to take place over three days in February 2027 and is expected to attract between 3,000 and 5,000 delegates, including entrepreneurs, investors, academics, researchers, policymakers, business leaders, media professionals, creators, and innovators from India and around the world.
Organizers say the festival is designed to serve as a global platform where ideas evolve into collaborations, innovation leads to enterprise, and cross-sector dialogue generates solutions to complex global challenges.
The launch comes as India continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing innovation economies, fueled by a young population, an expanding startup ecosystem, and rapid advances in technology.
According to Dr. Malik, Pune offers a unique foundation for such an initiative because of its longstanding reputation as India’s education capital and its strengths in higher education, manufacturing, information technology, research, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.
“The world’s greatest breakthroughs begin with ideas. Every innovation, startup, scientific discovery, social movement, and transformative change started as an idea,” Dr. Malik said.
He said the festival aims to connect visionary thinkers and emerging leaders while showcasing Pune and India’s growing influence in innovation and knowledge-driven industries.
A central focus of the festival will be engaging India’s young population by connecting students directly with entrepreneurs, investors, educators, scientists, corporate leaders, and policymakers. Organizers plan to offer internship opportunities, startup competitions, innovation showcases, leadership programs, volunteer initiatives, and networking sessions designed to encourage youth participation.
The three-day event will feature twelve multidisciplinary tracks covering education, artificial intelligence, future mobility, healthcare, biotechnology, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, sustainability, smart cities, public policy, media, women’s leadership, and the Indian diaspora.
Programming will include keynote speeches, fireside conversations, panel discussions, startup exhibitions, investor forums, leadership roundtables, networking events, and collaborations between universities and industry.
Members of the organizing committee said the festival has the potential to become one of India’s premier intellectual and innovation gatherings.
“Pune possesses a unique combination of world-class educational institutions, thriving startups, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and a strong culture of innovation,” said organizing committee member Satish Nair. “Pune Ideas Festival will create a platform where these strengths can converge and inspire meaningful conversations, collaborations, and opportunities.”
Organizing committee member Yousuf Khan said innovation flourishes when diverse perspectives come together and expressed confidence that the festival would encourage partnerships capable of addressing real-world challenges.
The festival has also announced an expanding Honorary Advisory Board comprising leaders from healthcare, higher education, entrepreneurship, media, technology, diplomacy, culinary arts, and the global startup ecosystem. Current members include physicians, university administrators, entrepreneurs, media executives, authors, filmmakers, and business leaders from India, Japan, and the United States.
Dr. Malik said the advisory board will continue to expand with experts from additional sectors, including venture capital, biotechnology, climate action, manufacturing, international relations, and artificial intelligence.
Beyond serving as a conference, organizers say the Pune Ideas Festival is intended to showcase India’s innovation ecosystem, entrepreneurial talent, research capabilities, manufacturing strength, and cultural heritage while strengthening international partnerships across academia, business, government, and civil society.
Organizers believe the event will generate lasting collaborations, investment opportunities, research partnerships, and global exchanges extending well beyond the festival itself.
As Pune prepares to host the inaugural edition in 2027, organizers hope the festival will establish the city as one of Asia’s leading destinations for innovation, thought leadership, and international dialogue.
