Over 1,000 devotees gathered at Hofstra University to celebrate Guru Purnima with Sri Siddheshwar Brahmrishi Guruvar, who emphasized spiritual growth and announced plans for a charitable healthcare initiative in India.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — On July 18, 2023, more than 1,000 devotees and spiritual seekers convened at Hofstra University’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse on Long Island to celebrate Guru Purnima with Sri Siddheshwar Brahmrishi Guruvar. The event was organized by the New York-based World Spiritual Forum and featured an evening dedicated to meditation, spiritual discourse, and the teachings of the renowned spiritual leader, known affectionately to his followers as Siddheshwar Gurudev.
During the event, Sri Siddheshwar captivated attendees with a discourse that underscored the interplay between spirituality and material success. He challenged prevailing notions that spirituality and financial achievement are mutually exclusive. “Making money and creating wealth through honest means is a good thing,” he stated emphatically. “The key is not to become attached to wealth but to use it for charitable purposes and the betterment of society.”
Charitable Healthcare Initiative Announced
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of plans for a new headquarters and ashram on over 600 acres in Bengaluru, India. This ambitious project includes the establishment of a state-of-the-art charitable hospital and medical college, which will incorporate artificial intelligence technologies into its operations. The hospital project is being partially funded by a significant philanthropic contribution from Florida entrepreneur Jugal Kishore Taneja. During the event, architectural renderings of the circular, multi-story medical complex were presented, with Taneja and the project’s architect, Alberto Alfonso, introduced to the audience.
Addressing Religious Divisions
In addition to discussing charitable initiatives, Sri Siddheshwar addressed the growing religious divisions globally, clarifying the distinction between religion and dharma. He articulated that Sanatana Dharma represents eternal truths rather than rigid doctrines, suggesting that many religions have struggled to remain relevant as scientific knowledge has progressed. He posited that some religious traditions have become stagnant by treating their scriptures as infallible, thereby limiting inquiry and evolution.
Manifestations and Spiritual Practices
Among the more mystical elements of the evening, the guru spoke about what his followers describe as his ability to materialize sacred objects. He explained that these manifestations involve aligning atoms and molecules to create physical objects, which are then given to devotees as spiritual keepsakes. The evening commenced with a guided meditation led by Shilpa Mehta, one of Sri Siddheshwar’s trained facilitators. Mehta introduced participants to Sahaj Shankh Mudra and pranayama techniques before guiding them through a half-hour meditation session designed to prepare attendees for the guru’s discourse. Following this event, Mehta also conducted a four-hour intensive retreat titled “Siddhasana – The Power of Soul” in nearby New Hyde Park, attracting approximately 150 participants who engaged in deeper exploration of meditation and self-awareness practices.

Organizers of the event characterized Guru Purnima as an occasion to honor the enduring tradition of the guru-disciple relationship while welcoming new seekers to Sri Siddheshwar’s teachings. Chandra Bhansali, one of the event’s organizers, remarked that Sri Siddheshwar is esteemed by his followers as a true guru, not only for his knowledge but for his transformative impact on lives. He emphasized that all teachings, learning programs, and visits to the guru’s ashram in Tirupati are offered free of charge, reflecting a philosophy rooted in selfless service.
Arvind Modi, the International President of the World Spiritual Forum, further highlighted the importance of finding an authentic spiritual teacher in today’s world. The event drew participants from across North America, with over 100 attendees traveling from outside New York State. Among them was Vidya Nagarajan, Director of Product Management at Google, who traveled from Palo Alto, California, alongside at least 25 participants from Toronto, Canada.
The gathering featured several notable attendees, including Harshad “Pakaji” Patel, Rakesh Bhargava, Kamlesh Mehta, Sharada Bhansali, Rajesh Choradia, Parveen Chopra, Beena Kothari, and Indu Jaiswal. These individuals represent a cross-section of professionals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating the wide appeal of Sri Siddheshwar’s teachings.
Upcoming Documentary and Global Reach
Sri Siddheshwar Brahmrishi Ji is recognized by his followers as an enlightened mystic and spiritual teacher, known for his contributions to Vedic science, astrology, meditation, and holistic Indian traditions. Based at his ashram in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, he travels internationally to conduct programs and retreats aimed at fostering personal transformation and inner development. Organizers also announced that filmmaker Neha Lohia’s feature-length documentary, titled “Siddhi,” is nearing release.
