Devotional Yoga Day Celebration Draws More Than 200 Participants in New York
More than 200 participants came together for a unique International Yoga Day celebration that blended meditation, movement, music, dialogue and devotion at the Vedic Heritage Hanuman Temple in Hempstead, New York.

More than 200 people gathered at the Vedic Heritage Hanuman Temple in Hempstead, New York, on June 14 for a devotional celebration of International Yoga Day organized by A Lotus In The Mud, an online wellness and spirituality magazine.

The event brought together meditation, yoga, music, dance, spiritual dialogue and community engagement in what organizers described as a modern-day satsang focused on inner growth and collective well-being.

The program was curated by Parveen Chopra, founder and editor of A Lotus In The Mud, who also moderated a panel discussion titled “Devotion as a Superhighway to Spiritual Evolution.”

The discussion featured a diverse group of speakers, including Lama Aria Drolma, author and banker Yakub Mathew, finance executive and artist Nayan Kisnadwala, and yoga teacher Sharon Epstein. The panel explored the role of devotion, spiritual practice and self-awareness in personal transformation.

The event’s chief guest was Dattatreyudu Nori, whose presence added significance to the gathering. The Consulate General of India, New York was represented by Mahesh Yadav, Consul.
Organizers said the program was designed to celebrate yoga not only as a physical discipline but also as a pathway to mindfulness, spiritual development and community connection.

The event combined traditional and contemporary elements, with attendees participating in devotional activities, reflective discussions and wellness practices throughout the day. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with speakers on topics related to spirituality, meditation and holistic living.
The gathering formed part of broader International Yoga Day celebrations taking place around the world, highlighting yoga’s role in promoting physical health, mental well-being and inner harmony.
