India Home Senior Center to Open in Hicksville, Expanding Support for Long Island’s Growing Senior Community
“This is a matter of great pride for AIA and the whole community, as this Senior Center has been established to serve our growing community.” — Gobind Munjal, Immediate Past National President, AIA National.
A new chapter in community care and senior engagement is set to begin with the inauguration of the India Home Senior Center in Hicksville, Long Island, on July 7.
The project is being supported by the Association of Indians in America (AIA National) and is expected to serve the growing Indian American senior population in Hicksville and surrounding communities.
Announcing the initiative, Gobind Munjal, Immediate Past National President of AIA and a member of the organization’s Board of Trustees, described the center as a significant milestone for both AIA and the wider community.
“This is a matter of great pride for AIA and the whole community, as this Senior Center has been established to serve our growing community, the majority of whom reside in and around the Hicksville area,” Munjal said.
According to organizers, the center has been designed as a welcoming space where seniors can connect with one another, participate in community activities and access programs and services tailored to their needs.
Community leaders say the facility will help address the social and recreational needs of older adults while fostering greater engagement, companionship and well-being among senior residents.
“The center will provide a welcoming space for seniors to connect, engage, and benefit from various programs and services,” Munjal added.
The opening reflects a broader effort by community organizations to expand resources for seniors as the Indian American population on Long Island continues to grow. Organizers noted that the center is intended to become a hub for social interaction, cultural activities, educational programs and support services.
Munjal has encouraged community members, supporters and local leaders to attend the inauguration and participate in the celebration of what he described as an important achievement for the community.
The inauguration ceremony is expected to bring together residents, community organizations and civic leaders to mark the launch of a facility dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of older adults in the region.
